09/03/2004, Strategic’s ARAB-EUROPEAN Digital World Roundtable 2004 " Expanding the Avenues of Digital Cooperation across the Mediterranean" Amman, Jordan, 10-11 June 2004.

Athens/Amman, 9 March 2004 – Cooperation opportunities in ICT between Greece, Cyprus and the European Union and the Arab World countries, joint Information Society challenges, e-action plans and business opportunities for Telecom, Media and IT companies in the region, will be debated at "Strategic’s ARAB-EUROPEAN Digital World Roundtable 2004", under the main theme "Expanding the Avenues of Digital Cooperation across the Mediterranean".

The mission and the associated event will take place on 10-11 June 2004, at Grand Hayatt Hotel in Amman, Jordan, focusing on all major Arab countries (United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, Lebanon, Kuwait, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Libya, Tunisia, Syria, Oman, Algeria, Egypt and Morocco), in the context of the Arab Advisors Group s “Media and Telecommunications Conference 2004”.

"Strategic’s ARAB-EUROPEAN Digital World Roundtable 2004" will give its supporting organizations from Greece , Cyprus and Europe the ability to directly address the leading high tech companies of the other side of the Mediterranean. One of the unique characteristics of the Roundtable is the organization of a series of carefully designed one-to-one meetings from the two worlds (the Arab and the Mediterranean/European World).
The Arab World presents a unique opportunity for technologically advanced countries of the West to export their experience and know-how in wealthy countries that only now begin to experience the technological blast that the western world witnessed some years ago.

It is shown in graph 1 that basic penetration figures like Internet accounts penetration almost doubled in the last two years, showing the large potential of the area.

The large unexploited opportunities of the areas are also demonstrated in graph 2, which shows the lack of certain services, considered basic in Western countries.
